News From PAMET - Texas Chapter:
After the successful convention held here in Houston last fall, August 2008, PAMET TX continued to be active in community awareness and service with our fellow healthcare professionals and other organizations.
In October 2008, we joined PCCI (Philippine Caring Community, Inc.) and other Organizations in honoring Mr. Don Wolterman, for his vision and exemplary achievement in community health and education. He is the CEO of the largest hospital system in Texas. The Memorial Herman Hospital System. It operates one of two (2) Level trauma centers in Houston. A number of PAMET-TX officers and members have been with the system for years.
A Christmas party was organized to appreciate all members, officers and the families and friends of this chapter for a job well done for the past convention. Held at the Heftie residence. It was a night of singing with the karaoke, sumptuous food, esp. lechon, exchange gifts and amity.
TX chapter also won the Parol contest sponsored by FACOST and Ilocano Association. It was given first prize in the commercial category. This beautiful lantern was submitted by Susan Heftie.
The New year gave TX reason to renew goals for our fellow professionals, with President Susan Heftie at the Helm. Continuing education is again the main focus for 2009. On May 2nd, 2009, 3.0 hrs. of C.E. units will be earned by participating med. Techs. Subjects will be Leukemias, and Immunology/Serology.
Plans for fundraising activities as well as renewing sponsorship of the Cotillion/Debutante ball in summer. A jam session for the community is also planned in the spring.
PAMET-TX is now seeking nominations for the next set of officers for 2010-2012.
We donated $200.00, through PAMET-USA President Esther Madamba towards the purchase of glucose strips to be used for the medical mission in Cagayan, Philippines.
GOOD LUCK PAMET-USA!!
On a somber note, we offer our prayers for our fallen comrade, Lolita Buday. May she rest in peace.
