To Nile Alconcel:
Wih our last induction ball taking place last March 2011, we have 42 members and more prospects are in the making.
We had our first meeting (after the induction) here in our place at Fort Myers. We discussed on how we can let the community know about us, about our profession and that we should not just content ourselves to be those "unsung heroes" working our tails off behind the scene.
I mentioned to our offices/members about the topic of "Funding the Laboratory Training Program" to solve the "manpower shortage" in the Medical Technology profession that Dan Dominguez sent. Our group suggested that PAMETUSA should have a letter to signand to send to our senators/congressmen instead of trying to call them to re-authorize the Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
We also discussed on how we can save up to 50% in our continuing education, and how we can raise funds for our organization. We all agreed to recruit more to add to our membership. We plan to offer laboratory testing (PSA in partnership with a medical lab), to the general public during Philippine Festival early next year and charge a small fee, 100% of which will be donated to our group.
Afer the meeting, everybody enjoyed freshly picked lychees from the farm, green mangoes with bagoong and pickled/burong mangoes and ripe mangoes with suman. It was suggested that one way for us to raise fund, is to get orders for fresh lychee and mangoes and sell them for a profit and everyone got so excited they can hardly wait for the next season.
We decided that our next meeting will be a "teleconference" type because it is hard to bring everbody together from all over Florida.
I will surely keep you abreast of all activities that we will be having. Hope one day, you can all visit us here in Florida. (Hint: The best time is the fruiting season which is June - July).
Thank you and have a great and blessed weekend.
Warm regards,
Meling

PAMET NORCAL CHAPTERS REPORT
AUGUST 5, 2011
I would like to report to you that most of our past events and activities have been very successful.
SERVICE is our main goal:
a) Service to all unlicensed medical technologists, by providing 2 review classes every year; to help and guide them in passing their CLS examination.
b) Service to all fellow CLS's and our membership by providing 4 Continuing Education seminars at different places . We are one of the visible and least expensive CE providers in the bay area.
c) Service to our community by reaching out and participating in Relay for Life, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.
d) Fund raising events that we do 3 or 4 times a year to maintain our finances in good standing.
e) PAMET Newsletter for the membership distributed 3 times a year.
f) Summer picnic and Christmas party for officers and members held every year.
g) The best part yet, we manage to enjoy Broadway shows as part of our bonding and relaxation time. I call this service to all officers who works diligently for the organization.
h) A total group effort to help in the formation of the PAMET-USA, 17th Chapter...."The Sacramento Valley Chapter".
i) Because of all of these activities, we have maintain our membership and our financial status in better standing.
LEGISLATIVE FRONT:
1. We are an active participant in the DPHA, CLTAC (Clinical Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee) - a group of leaders who assist, advise and make recommendations for the establishment of rules and regulations necessary to ensure proper administration and enforcement of the provisions of the laboratory and to assist and advise the department in matters concerning examinations for licensees. Liz Dequinia and Marian Castillo represents PAMET NOR-CAL in every meeting.
2. We become visible as an organization by representing PAMET at the last CCCLW (Coordinating Council on the Clinical Laboratory Workforce) meeting in Chicago on June 13, 2011. Dan Dominguez represented PAMET at this meeting.
We are always being challenged to bring new ideas for our membership, for the things we want to do and accomplish. All of our planned activities would have not been successful if not for fellow officers who performs thoroughly and very committed to do their job. We have new officers who are waiting in line to provide the same kind of commitment for the organization. They truly understand the value of what we have been doing for the past 30 years.
We do realize that what we do are all voluntary. We remain committed to help others and to make a difference.
Thank you.

MESSAGE FROM SAN DIEGO CHAPTER....
PAMET San Diego would like to thank the following chapters: PAMET Indiana, PAMET Michigan, PAMET Midwest, PAMET Nevada, PAMET Sacramento, PAMET Texas and PAMET NoCal for supporting the souvenir program of our inaugural ball. It is with much regret that we missed publishing the ad sent by PAMET NoCal's immediate past president, Dan Dominguez. Dan was the very first to submit the ad. Unfortunately even with our best laid plan and intentions the error happened. We thank PAMET NoCal for all the warm thoughts; we apologize for the error.
Special thank you also goes to all our colleagues and their guests who came for the 13th biennial meeting and attended our inaugural ball. PAMET SoCal president Art Trinidad led the largest delegation (21), followed by PAMET NoCal president Jill Mendoza (16), PAMET Texas president Digna Reed (9), PAMET Midwest president Evelyn Ramirez (8), PAMET Michigan president Jim Sedayao attended the meeting and was able to send (6)representatives, PAMET Nevada president Fita Lim and granddaughter, PAMET New York president Violet Miszkuly, and PAMET Indiana president Tony Ricafort. I know many of our colleagues wanted to come but other circumstances prevented them from attending. We thank you as well for your warm wishes.
We would also like to recognize the generosity of our President-elect, Mrs. Evelyn Ramirez for donating the "lechon" during the farewell picnic. That made our gathering very festive. We also convey our sincere appreciation to our three CEU speakers: Maria Victorio and Eileen Licuanan of PAMET SD and Judy Heng of PAMET Texas for their lectures on current laboratory concepts and topics.
And last but not least, thank you Ms. Nile Alconcel, 2010-2012 PAMETUSA president for that great keynote speech describing- The Role of Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Management of Health Care in the United States.

Chapter Report by Angele Miguel
August 5, 2011
In line with PAMET-Indiana’s intention to grow and enhance awareness about our organization, we continue to implement our plans all year round. PAMET-IN consistently strives to be productive and visible thru community service, continuing education, member recruitment, and fund raising and social activities.
The first meeting under Tony Ricafort’s leadership was held on February 11, 2011 at the Indiana University Health Pathology Laboratory in Indianapolis. During this meeting, the group discussed all the activities planned for this year. Tony also met with the Northwest Indiana group on March 12, 2011 to update every members and officers of the organization’s future plans and projects. With these 2 meetings, the 2011 calendar of events was created.
We jump started the spring season with the completion of PAMET-Indiana’s 1st newsletter for 2011. This was posted in our website and was distributed to all members in April. Our education committee provides continuing education to all Clinical laboratory professionals twice a year (Spring and Fall) alternating between Indianapolis and Northwest Indiana to maintain and improve our knowledge and skills and keep abreast with the current practices in the field of Medical Technology. The spring seminar was held at the Harrison College in Indianapolis on April 30, 2011. The fall seminar will be on October 15, 2011 at St. Mary’s hospital in Hobart Indiana.
PAMET-IN was represented at the 1st joint meeting of the different Filipino organizations in Indiana on May 14, 2011 to discuss each of the organizations plans and projects for 2011. Other organizations in the meeting were the Barangay Club of Indiana (BCI), Indiana Philippine Medical Association (IPMA), and the Philippine Nurses Association of Indiana (PNA-IN).
Our 1st community service and medical mission was a 3- day health fair event held in our neighboring state of Ohio last Memorial Day weekend. Some of the officers and members volunteered their time during this holiday weekend to provide free glucose testing to the public. We participated at the Asian Festival at Garfield Park in Indianapolis on June 4, 2011. The PAMET-IN chapter, along with PNA-IN provided free Glucose testing and wellness health screening to the Indianapolis community. We also took part in promoting the Philippine Culture and Tradition at the annual Camp Mabuhay project in Kokomo Indiana on June 11, 2011 by teaching the children and their parents the Philippine national folk dance “Tinikling”. We were also represented during the BCI Philippine Independence Day Fiesta on June 18, 2011 by working with IPMA and PNA-IN and provided free Glucose testing and wellness health screening to interested attendees. We will be hosting the “Misang Pilipino” to be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville, Indiana on September 25, 2011 in honor of the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, the first Filipino Saint (protomartyr) venerated in the Roman Catholic Church. We are also scheduled to serve at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry on October 1st to help distribute food to the indigent families of Indianapolis. On November 19, 2011, PAMET-IN volunteered at St. Louis De Montfort to help distribute Thanksgiving baskets to the needy families in Fishers Indiana area. We will be donating our time at the Wheelers Mission on November 23rd to assist in preparing and serving Thanksgiving meal to the homeless in Indianapolis.
Our first charitable event for 2011 to benefit the residents of St. Augustine Home for the Elderly was a golf outing held on July 23rd in Noblesville, Indiana. We thank all the organizations and individuals who supported this cause. The net proceeds from this event will be donated to St. Augustine Home for the Elderly.
PAMET-IN president Tony Ricafort attended the national PAMET-USA executive meeting in San Diego, California in August to keep updated with the future plans of all PAMET organizations nationwide.
The chapter also set aside time for recreation and social activities. The annual Canada field trip is on September 3-5. This is our opportunity to celebrate and enjoy each others company and camaraderie and satisfy one ’s self with native Philippine fruits like “lansones”, “atis”, “langka”, “chico”. “mangosteen” and “rambutan” to name a few. We look forward to attend the traditional BCI social function on December 3rd to celebrate the Christmas and Induction ball.
All of these activities are made possible with the generous time and effort contributed by each PAMET-IN members and officers.
