Greetings from MOTOWN & Happy Autumn
It’s been 2 months since the Executive Board Meeting and a lot happened since then. First off, I would like again to thank PAMET-SAN DIEGO for hosting a successful meeting. There were minor incidents but you took care of it in a very timely manner. I hope everyone was satisfied so let’s move on and focus on reconciliation and unity within our organization.
I would like to EXCITINGLY announce the formation of our # 18th Chapter of PAMET-USA, INC. It’s PAMET-NEBRASKA under the leadership of Rex Famitangco, their elected first President. We owe this tremendous honor to Shirley Cruzada, our national 2nd VP, whose leadership is unquestionable. I have talked to Rex and to this date, they have already organized their first set of officers, designed their logo and presently organizing their first Induction Ball. I will forward his first email so everyone will get to know this up and coming new member. He has a very impressive resume and I am looking forward to meeting him. Shirley is also in contact with a member in North Dakota and it looks very promising. I have also been in touch with an interested party in Jacksonville, Florida who wants to be a member through Manang Aida. Esther Madamba has also contacted someone in Seattle to join our organization. As you can see, these are exciting times and I hope that most of these projects will materialize through our dedicated members.
I will keep you posted as they develop.
There have been 2 Induction Balls that occurred at the same day since August. First was PAMET-NEW JERSEY under the leadership of Amy Tiongson who was inducted by our East designated VP, Ms. Violeta Mizckuly. From her report, it was a very successful affair and I would like to thank Violeta for her time as the inducting officer on my behalf. I went to Houston, Texas to induct Mrs. Ester Buot as the next PAMET-TEXAS chapter president and it was a grand affair. As they say, they do everything BIG in Texas and I was not disappointed. On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to congratulate both Ms. Amy Tiongson and Ms. Ester Buot for accepting these positions and the challenge that goes along with it.
As discussed at the meeting, I got in touch with Mr. Rick Panning, the coordinator of the CCCLW for an invitation to attend their meeting to be held at the Airport Hilton Hotel in Chicago. As promised, Mrs. Aida Maguigad and Mrs. Evelyn Ramirez were welcomed as observers to their meeting on Sep. 12, 2011. CCCLW is a coalition of laboratory organizations working together to ensure a high quality workforce. Much like any organization, there is a membership fee and for CCCLW it costs $2400.00 to sign in and about $800.00 yearly fee and could increase anytime. This is how Mrs. Evelyn Ramirez understood it. This is a matter that should be discussed further and I will put this into motion at our next meeting.
The minutes of the Executive Board meeting will be posted soon as I have just edited it. Thanks Annie for your promptness.
Individual chapter activities will be posted at the website by our PRO Jill Mendoza. She asked for all chapter presidents to send their photos so please comply so she can update our website. Thanks.
CRUISE CONVENTION UPDATES:
THEME: “Bridging the Gap of Laboratory Professional Shortages Through Visibility and Active Participation”
There have been a lot of questions regarding our next convention-at-sea. From changing the cruise dates, to changing the destination, to changing the ship, to changing the embarkation port etc. and there was only one answer we (coordinators) could give. The Western Caribbean originating from New Orleans was the one that was VOTED and APPROVED by the Executive Board and as a rule must be carried on and followed. There was a concern about hurricane season but the cruise line assures that the destination ports will be diverted to different ports far from the hurricane. That being said, here are the details of the cruise :
7-night Western Caribbean aboard the Carnival CONQUEST
8/19 New Orleans
8/20 Fun Day at Sea
8/21 Fun Day at Sea
8/22 Montego Bay, Jamaica
8/23 Grand Cayman, Cayman Island
8/24 Cozumel, Mexico
8/25 Fun Day at Sea
8/26 New Orleans
Annette Naevestro will still be our Cruise Agent. I will email the exact details separately as emailed to me by Annette. This will include all the prices and port charges for single, double, triple and quad occupancies. More details will follow as they become available. Start saving and put in your 2012 summer vacations. It’s never too early.
Nomination & Election: Ricky Martinez is the Chair and will send reminders of the beginning and end dates of sending your nominees. Please consider running for a position…it’s very rewarding with a few headaches but none no one can handle.
That’s all for now …until next time….God Bless…
